Cycling the Erie Canal By Jakob Cansler On the morning of Sunday, July 18, 2010 cyclists began to arrive at the Waterford Harbor Farmer’s Market. With only ten miles left in their four hundred ten mile journey that began in Buffalo the cyclists decided to take a quick break at the farmer’s market. I got a chance to sit down with Jerry Lawler, a cyclist from Baltimore, Maryland who sat down to get a drink of coffee. He told me that the ride was “exhilarating, wonderful, and strenuous”. He also told me that he and other riders have been cycling for four hundred miles with an average of fifty miles a day! When I asked about how he liked the farmer’s market he said “it’s great, haven’t had a coffee this good for four hundred miles”. Cyclist Jerry Lawler
